In British North America the southern, middle, and New England colonies all had a different take on educational practices. In the south education was not as prevalent as say the New England colonies education system, and because of this things such as literacy rates were much lower. In the south the wealth were able to get a education but besides that people struggled. In the New England Colonies education was seen as much more important. Because these colonies had more wealth and land things such as education came easier to them. They also put stressors on getting kids in school at an early age so that learning could start early on. Literacy rates among the middle colonies were also much lower than the New England colonies but still not as low as the south. The Middle colonies also taught based on religious practices so learning was much more church based than just learning to be educated. With this wide spread idea of what education should be, All the colonies ended up with a unique experience in education.
