The educational philosophies of Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Dubois vary in many different ways. Booker T. Washington was a reform leader as well as an educator that was very well known. He believed that self help, accommodation and self help were the best ways to live. He thought that education was best when learning crafting, industrial and farming skills with emphasis on enterprise and patience. He thought that blacks should work hard and not accept their situation for the time being. However W.E.B. Dubois thought this ideal would only further the white repression of black individuals. Because of this he pushed political action and civil rights movement. He thought that be developing a small group of talented black young men could bring about change (the talented ten). He believed equality was one of the most important issues for the black race however he thought uneducated blacks shouldn’t be allowed to vote. However both did fight for rights that were stolen from them in the end.
